Lumos Networks Wins Approved Vendor Status with Virginia Information Technologies Agency ("VITA")


Lumos Networks Corp. ("Lumos Networks" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: LMOS), a leading fiber-based provider of data, voice and IP-based telecommunication services in the Mid-Atlantic region, announced today that it is has gained authorized vendor status from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency ("VITA") to provide broadband services to governmental agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Lumos Networks' broadband services encompass a wide array of advanced fiber technologies, including Ethernet, WAVE (News - Alert), Dedicated Internet Access ("DIA").

It allows us to showcase the strength of our network and the success we've demonstrated in providing customized solutions to municipalities and governmental agencies across the Commonwealth," said Joseph E. McCourt, Chief Revenue Officer of Lumos Networks.

At the end of the third quarter of 2015, approximately 3,300 fiber route miles of the Company's total fiber route mileage of 8,408 were located in the state of Virginia. As of the end of the third quarter of 2015, nearly 65% of Lumos Networks' roughly 2,700 total on-net locations were located in the state of Virginia.

Mr. McCourt continued, "Lumos Networks is a leader amongst fiber providers in the state of Virginia and we plan to leverage this extensive network to provide safe and reliable connectivity for both city and county governments, non-profits, and other governmental bodies, all under the VITA umbrella."

he VITA vendor approved status will also support Lumos Networks' e-rate efforts. Lumos Networks supports the Universal Service Fund and can provide assistance with E-Rate eligible services to schools and libraries currently using or exploring Direct Internet Access, Data services, Ethernet, Primary and /or backup connections, Voice services and more in pursuit of their educational and administrative goals.



"Those in the governmental sector across Virginia seeking access to high-speed, fiber-based infrastructure and networking solutions, can do so via Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) contracts and streamline the purchasing process for Lumos Networks services," McCourt added.

All authorized users may use the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) broadband Internet services contracts to obtain services for Internet access. Authorized users include all public bodies, including VITA, and all Commonwealth Agencies as defined by 2.2-4301 and referenced by 2.2-4304 of the Code of Virginia. The award was made in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in Request for Proposal RFP 2015-17 for broadband services.
