Granite Customers Meet with FCC Commissioners


Granite Telecommunications (News - Alert), LLC, a provider of voice, data, networking, and other communications services, accompanied several high-profile business customers to the Federal Communications Commission on Friday, July 24, to support the FCC's (News - Alert) proposal in its Technology Transitions proceeding requiring telecom carriers to provide wholesale services to competitors at reasonably comparable rates, terms and conditions during the transition to IP-based networks.

Sahal Laher, CIO, Brooks Brothers, Inc.; David Schacht, CIO, Simon Property Group, Inc.; and Andy Laudato, CIO, Pier 1 Imports, joined Granite CEO, President and Founder Rob Hale in urging the FCC to ensure that businesses served by competitive carriers will continue to have choices in their service provider and maintain predictable rates. Granite's customers attended four separate meetings with FCC Chairman Wheeler, Commissioner Rosenworcel, Commissioner O'Rielly and Nicholas Degani, Legal Advisor to Commissioner Pai. Granite representatives me with Commissioner Clyburn's Legal Advisor the day earlier.



Granite's Hale stated, "We enthusiastically support the Chairman's proposal and the transition to new technologies. The proposed rules are important for Granite's customers, such as the customers who visited the FCC, who will be able to continue to enjoy the benefits of advanced IP technologies and count on receiving high-quality communications products and services for many years to come." The FCC will vote on the proposed rules at its open meeting on August 6, 2015.
