Comcast Supports Local Business Innovation and Productivity with New High Speed Connections for Salinas Municipal Airport Business District

LIVERMORE, Calif., July 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Business today announced a major expansion of its advanced fiber network to the Salinas Municipal Airport Business District in Salinas, California, and recently held a ribbon cutting celebration at K-Lift Service Company (1360 Burton Ave., Salinas, CA 93901) to unveil the network. Elected officials as well as business and community leaders from across the region attended to applaud the new high-capacity network and what it means to Salinas businesses, including manufacturing, biotech and education, to help them improve productivity. Comcast Business installed more than three miles of fiber, both underground and aerial, to the business community adjacent to the Salinas Municipal Airport, which includes businesses on Harkins Road, Burton Avenue and Dayton Street.

"High-performance network services are needed for businesses to operate effectively and this expanded fiber network is vital to strengthening the Salinas business community," said Paul Farmer, CEO Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce. "Comcast Business' infrastructure investment in Salinas will help drive innovation in agriculture, construction and other industries in the region."

The high-speed fiber network will provide the businesses with the ability to get Internet speeds up to 10 Gbps, which is critical for the site's data intensive businesses. The expansion comes as a result of a more than $385,000 investment from Comcast and makes the business district, home to more than 155 businesses, the first to receive fiber-based Internet in the area.

"Boyds Asphalt Services relies on fast, dependable internet to receive and respond to customer requests and efficiently plan our road projects using detailed mapping applications," said Emile Estassi, owner, Boyds Asphalt Services. "Our business couldn't continue to innovate and increase productivity without the help of technology upgrades in Salinas made possible through Comcast."

"Our investment in demonstrates our continued commitment to bringing businesses more options for high-capacity network connectivity that are increasingly the foundation for economic development and business growth."
