First Ever… MSHA Permissible Mobile Computer

MENTOR, Ohio, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Snively and ecom instruments enabling new paradigm…
For years, the mining industry has been attempting to secure rugged mobile computers with barcode scanning capabilities to the face of mines. Due to regulations and the explosion risks of commercially available technology, an MSHA Certified Mobile Computer has not met the Intrinsic Safety Standards to pass MSHA permissible standards.

First Ever MSHA Permissible Mobile Computer from Snively Inc.

Snively Inc., a technology firm focused on Safety and Automation, is changing the mining industry by finally completing a successful MSHA Certification project for this one-of-a-kind Mobile Computer for use in all areas of underground mining and other hazardous areas.

Ecom instruments, global market leader and full-service provider in the field of portable explosion-protected equipment strengthens its partnership with Snively Inc., by bundling Safety Tracker Software to its Intrinsically Safe iroc.Ci70-Ex to North America.

Collaboraive Strengths

The partnership between Snively Inc. and ecom instruments, and Honeywell (formerly Intermec) began with the development of first ever MSHA Permissible Ruggedized Mobile Computer, Honeywell manufactures the base unit; then is re engineered by ecom to be explosion proof. With great advances in Intrinsic Safety manufacturing processes and lithium ion battery advances MSHA engineers have finally been able to approve this mobile computer where many other devices have failed over the last 8 years.

The MSHA-Certified iroc.Ci70-Ex (rights reserved & followed by iroc.Ci70-Ex) distributed by Snively, combines multiple functions in one device, Windows Mobile Computer, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Safety Inspection Tool, Electronic Fire Bossing, Barcode Scanner & Video/PDF Viewer. This device eliminates the need for manual data collection and provides mine contractors/vendors the ability to use a windows mobile device to interface their machinery at the face and return areas of the mines.

"Snively and ecom have been working for years to bring certification to a device for use at the mine's face," says Justine Blank, Vice President of Snively. "About 32 months ago, we made real strides in having this device developed to actually conform to the MSHA Certification Standards. We really think this will revolutionize the mining industry and increase safety and productivity for mining companies. Not only will mine owners and employees be able to utilize this device, the suppliers to the mining industry now have an approved device to incorporate into their machinery and a mobile to perform maintenance and data analysis of the underground equipment at the face."
