Lumos Networks Lights up its Parallel Network Operating Center ("NOC") in PittsburghWAYNESBORO, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Lumos Networks Corp. ("Lumos Networks" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: LMOS), a fiber-based service provider of data, voice and IP-based telecommunication services in the Mid-Atlantic region, today announced that the Company's parallel Network Operating Center ("NOC (News - Alert)"), located in its recently opened Pittsburgh office, is now operational. This new NOC, from the outset, will be fully connected and compatible with Project Ark, the Company's recently launched all-IP network overlay designed to handle Fiber to the Cell traffic. This NOC will also provide full replication of all traditional functions of the Company's current NOC, located in Waynesboro, Virginia, including full performance surveillance, repair, upgrade and maintenance of the approximately 7,500 route mile dense fiber network and full redundancy of the Company's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery functions. "The opening of our parallel NOC in our new Pittsburgh office is a key milestone for Lumos Networks," noted Craig Drinkhall, Chief Technology Officer of Lumos Networks. "Our new NOC, located over 250 miles from our existing NOC, will provide significant geographic diversity and will replicate all of the critical NOC functions, including maintenance and operation of our fiber network. The full redundancy and resiliency provided by this NOC is a transformational move by Lumos as we continue our evolution to a fiber bandwidth company." "The lighting up of our parallel NOC is a major selling point to our key Carrier and Enterprise customers who demand the highest levels of redundancy and service quality," said Timothy G. Biltz, CEO of Lumos Networks. "There are few, if any, regional fiber bandwidth providers, who can boast two parallel NOCs managing their fiber networks. We consider this to be a key differentiating factor for Lumos going forward." The new Lumos Networks Pittsburgh office will also house an R&D Center, focused on the testing of new advanced fiber data products, and a sales office, focused on the large and vibrant Western Pennsylvania marketplace. The grand opening of the Lumos Networks Pittsburgh office will be hosted on Tuesda, October 21st at the following location:
