Optical Networking Veteran Joins CALIENT Technologies as Senior Director of Technical Marketing


SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

CALIENT Technologies, Inc., the global leader for optical circuit switching technology, today announced that David Altstaetter has joined the company as its Senior Director of Technical Marketing focused on accelerating the company's expansion into data center and service provider markets. He will report to Daniel Tardent Vice President of Marketing and Product Line Management.

Before CALIENT, Altstaetter served as Senior Director, Global Business Development and Senior Director, Applications and Solutions, for ADVA (News - Alert) Optical Networking, Inc. Prior to his role at ADVA, he spent eight years with CALIENT, serving as Senior Systems Engineer, then Director of Systems Engineering and finally as Vice President of Systems.

"Not only does David bring 17 years of experience in telecommunications and optcal networking, he also spent a solid portion of his career at CALIENT, so he has a deep understanding of our technologies, which will be valuable in developing new solutions to support our growing data center and service provider customers," Tardent said.



Altstaetter has also held engineering positions at Coriant (Sycamore Systems, Inc.) and Verizon (News - Alert) Communications Inc. (MCI WorldCom and WorldCom, Inc.). Altstaetter holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University.
