Global Knowledge Wins Silver CSTD Award

TORONTO --(Business Wire)--

Global Knowledge, worldwide leader in IT, business, and leadership skills advancement, announced today that it has received a Silver Award for Training Excellence by the Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD) in the Blended Learning category. Global Knowledge was recognized for its Leadership NOW program, developed for TELUS (News - Alert), one of Canada's leading telecommunications companies.

CSTD is the largest association dedicated to training and HR development, and its highly coveted awards are judged on six criteria: needs analysis, learning objectives and evaluation, design, quality of material, impact, and originality.

Global Knowledge (News - Alert) developed the Leadership NOW program for TELUS as a career development initiative that recognizes and invests in top talent. The program focuses on the development of high-performing and high-potential leaders who are ready to take on additional responsibilities. This year-long program incorporates a variety of learning media to address key behaviours and trends in leadership. Each year the curriculum changes to reflect current issues, so participants can be a part of Leadership NOW more than once.

"The Leadership NOW curriculum is rooted in the TELUS Collaborative Learning model," said Jocelyn Berard, Global Knowledge International Vice President of Leadership and Business Solutions. "A cornerstone of this collaborative learning model is the use of social platforms as well as informal and formal learning opportunities. Learners use tools already embedded in the organization to collaborate with their peers and managers across the country on everything from projects to points of view related to what they are learning in Leadership NOW."

The Leadership NOW curriculum has had a significant impact at TELUS. In the 2012 midyear survey, more than 75 percent of participants reported that their engagement level had increased as a result of their participation in the training, and almost 90 percent reported an increased ability to demonstrate the TELUS Collaborative Learning model.

"TELUS has also seen an improvement in key performance indicators, such as internal promotion rates and employee retention," said Berard. "This was ensured and supported with coaching and support from the TELUS executive team."

"The Leadership NOW Program is a cornerstone within the TELUS Leadership Philosophy and helps drive our number one corporate priority, Customers First," said Dan Pontefract, Head of Learning and Collaboration at TELUS. "The Collaborative Learning model is an extension of our belief that culture is our competitive advantage."
