MetraTech Introduces Real-Time Commerce Decision Engine

ORLANDO, FL, Dec 04, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- MetraTech, the leading provider of agreements-based billing (ABB(TM)) and compensation solutions, advanced its relationship monetization(TM) with the introduction of the MetraNet(R) Commerce Decision Engine. The Commerce Decision Engine powered by RAMP(TM) (Real-time Aggregate Metrics Processor) is being introduced at Management World Americas and is now embedded in the latest release of MetraNet.

MetraNet is the only monetization platform built on an extensible metadata-driven architecture that makes it simple for customers to model services, introduce services and pricing plans, and to change them in rapid response to market demands. Billing and multi-party settlement functionality such as commissioning, revenue sharing and other B2x compensation schemes is supported on the same powerful platform. Partnerships with content providers, distributors or any other type of 3rd party relationship can be handled with accuracy, visibility and control for the service provider and its partners.

All billing events that enter the MetraNet billing platform have configurable account and usage decision criteria that can be used to decide which contract, agreement, or sales criteria to apply to the event and all associated aggregations. Unlike other billing solutions, there is no limit to the number of decisions or business criteria that can be configured by users. The Commerce Decision Engine can run in real-time where the system maintains a continuous count of each transaction type through counters or in batch mode where multiple batches are sent into the system for re-evaluation.

MetraNet's Commerce Decision Engine is the first billing technology that can be easily configured to execute decisions based upon aggregating any type of metric across arbitrary products, services, groups of accounts (in or outside of traditional hierarchies), usage types, charge types, utilization or commitment tiers, resellers, national jurisdictions, and multiple currencies. Businesses that deploy MetraNet have the freedom to devise optimal pricing and charging models for all their customers, with multi-level and complex policies and thresholds applied in real time or at the end of the billing cycle. Actions such as immediate charge/fee generation for overage, achievement of minimum commitments, or retroactive rerating of usage based on tiers, or grants of free minutes can be offered to customers.

It is now possible for a service provider to run different pricing, bundling, discounting, and billing cycle rules for any group of customers defined in any way. All billing information, including departmental summaries, can be made available to customers and internal business intelligence. Service providers now have a real-time snapshot of the state of the business.

CSP and Cloud providers focusing on enterprises and multiple verticals are often limited by simplistic legacy billing systems built for B2C with one party centric models. This is particularly relevant in cloud, as the demand by enterprises to support sophisticated usage will be the key to unlocking new revenue streams.

While providing the ability for customers to understand their bill and avoid "bill shock" has always been a big topic for simple consumer GSM data accounts, MetraNet provides this visibility to B2B usage based offerings for multi-party revenue models and open groupings of accounts.

With complex calculations and aggregations being performed in real-time, MetraNet provides linear scalability and removes the batch processing window which is a scalability limitation of other billing systems.

Karl Whitelock, Director Global OSS BSS Strategy at Stratecast | Frost and Sullivan noted, "MetraTech pushed innovation with its ABB solution, making multi-party relationship monetization a reality. The Commerce Decision Engine continues the push with aggregation of any type of metric across groups of accounts, multi-national boundaries, and multiple currencies. This capability is a significant step forward for service providers that must differentiate to capture new revenue streams." MetraTech will showcase the Real-time Commerce Decision Engine and other technologies at Booth #25 on the exhibition floor at the 2012 TMForum Management World Americas, in Orlando, FL, Dec 3-6, 2012.
