Dec 03, 2012 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) chair Rod Sims has signalled the watchdog's focus for 2013. It aims to gain greater input by corporations into how mergers and acquisitions applications are handled, while stressing that many complaints about long delays in ACCC deliberations are unfounded. Sims noted that major takeover deals will almost always trigger serious competition concerns that need to be looked at. Meanwhile cartel and misuse of market power investigations will also be on the ACCC's agenda in the year ahead.
