Unicoi Systems Extends its Voice Quality Advantage

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 08 November 2012 Release date- 08112012 - ATLANTA, GEORGIA - Unicoi Systems, Inc. (Unicoi), a leading provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) solutions, announces the latest improvements to its carrier-grade VoIP processing solution, the Fusion Voice Engine.

The latest release of the Fusion Voice Engine accommodates an impressive 10% packet loss - significantly better than competing voice engine solutions - preserving high quality audio even in poor networking conditions with heavy packet loss.

The key area of improvement to the Fusion Voice Engine is centered around a newly restructured packet loss concealment algorithm (PLC). As indicated by the name, the PLC is responsible for managing the 'lost audio packets' that often occur during 3G, 4G (LTE), and VoIP voice calls. A small amount of 1% to 5% packet loss is normal and easily accommodated for by most PLC's. Larger amounts of packet loss, however, can quickly become an issue, especially in areas where poor cell tower reception, interference, or slow network traffic are the norm. In these less-than-ideal conditions, audio quality can become severely crippled from heavy packet loss, sometimes at the cost of losing a phone call. But this is where Unicoi's new Fusion Voice Engine takes over. Now 3G, 4G (LTE), and VoIP providers utilizing Fusion Voice Engine will be able to maintain quality voice calls under conditions previously not possible.

'We are thrilled with the new PLC algorithm enhancements to the Fusion Voice Engine,' said Greg Coonley, CEO and founder of Unicoi Systems. 'In the past, you could basically assume a steady stream of voice call data via POTS or a traditional PBX. With mobile and VoIP telecommunications, you trade some of that reliability for mobility and flexibility. But with the mobile and VoIP markets exploding as they are, we knew we had to cater to a wider-range of environments. The new PLC algorithm does just that.' The Fusion Voice Engine is optimized for high performance on virtually any platform, allowing application developers, service providers and device manufacturers the ability to easily build complex voice processing technology into their products without worrying about the effects of delay, jitter, packet loss, background noise and echo. The end result: industry-leading voice quality.
