HomeAway Names New VP, HomeAway Software Business

Jan 13, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- HomeAway, Inc. a provider of online vacation rentals, announced the promotion of Bill Furlong to the position of VP of HomeAway Software for Professionals.

In this position, Furlong will oversee the vacation home rental industry's enterprise software. He maintains his existing responsibilities as general manager in addition to his promotion, and will move from Seattle to HomeAway's world headquarters in Austin, Texas for his new role.

Prior to HomeAway, Furlong was the CEO of vacation rental software provider, Escapia, which HomeAway acquired in October 2010. Furlong has worked in both the travel industry and the vacation rental software industry for nearly 10 years and developed Escapia into one of the industry's most used software as a service (SaaS) solutions. Before Escapia, Furlong served as chief operating officer of Mpire, Inc. as well as vice president of sales and marketing for Cranium, Inc.? "Bill's leadership as CEO of Escapia heavily impacted the success of the company, and ultimately, our decision to acquire the company last year," says Brent Bellm, chief operating officer of HomeAway. "We're fortunate he remained with HomeAway through the acquisition and that he will apply his expertise to the HomeAway Software for Professionals business."?
