York Telecom's President to Take Part in Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon
EATONTOWN, NJ, Sep 03, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
York Telecom Corporation, a leading global provider of visual
communications services and solutions, today announced Ron Gaboury,
President and COO, will present $100,000 in contributions raised
earlier this summer at the Visions of Hope event. This will be a live
broadcast on the 45th Annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
Ron Gaboury is honored to represent MDA and Visions of Hope as the
check presenter on the New York broadcast of the Telethon. For the
past two years Mr. Gaboury has been involved with the MDA. He has
participated in the MDA Lock-Up, where community leaders agree to be
"arrested" for having a "big heart" as a fund raiser, and this year
acted as the sponsorship and fundraising chair for Visions of Hope.
Collectively at the 3rd annual Visions of Hope event, the team was
able to raise the $100,000 to benefit MDA of Central NJ and Staten
Island services and summer camp initiatives.
The contributions presented on the telethon will go to families
served in Central NJ and Staten Island to provide much-needed
services. The MDA clinic, located at HealthSouth Rehabilitation
Hospital of Tinton Falls, offers initial diagnosis, follow-up care
and physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapy
evaluations to those living with any of 43 neuromuscular diseases. In
addition, children and young adults (ages six to seventeen) can
attend the week long MDA Summer Camp free of charge.
"Like many people, I grew up watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon and
seeing the difference that this event can make in lives of children
with muscular dystrophy," said Ron Gaboury. "I am honored to present
the contributions on behalf of The Visions of Hope event and
encourage many others to participate in the Telethon so that the MDA
can continue to provide services to families throughout the US."
Each Labor Day weekend, 40 million Americans tune in for the longest
running and highest grossing Telethon, which aims to raise over $60.5
million during 21 1/2 hours. This year's Telethon will take place at
the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas on Sept. 5-6, and
can be seen locally on WWOR, My9 beginning at 9 p.m. ET on Sept. 5.
