 TMCnet Contributing Editor
TANDBERG and Barco have jointly developed a tele-collaboration solution with 1080p high-definition video. The solution will be available starting in third quarter 2008.
Organizations that scrutinize large amounts of rich data and collaborate in real-time among multiple locations, such as government agencies, oil and gas companies and automotive manufacturers, will benefit from this integration.
Michel Vandeplas, President for Barco’s Presentation and Simulation Division said, “TANDBERG’s ultra high-definition 1080p video allows teams to see remote colleagues in natural, life-like detail, and they will still have direct and easy access to the data they need to discuss.”
By integrating Barco’s multi-windowing display systems with TANDBERG’s high-definition video solutions, the two companies have focused to enable organizations to visually collaborate and analyze complex sources of data in real-time.
“As decisions become more complex, they often involve input from a larger number of experts and data points,” said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO
This tele-collaboration solution allows multiple desktop applications and productivity software such as SAP ( News - Alert) can be integrated with telepresence.
Vandeplas mentioned Barco as the leaders in visual technology industry and the company believes that Windows desktop integration can render decision-making and collaboration between remote teams more user-friendly.
The new custom solution includes TANDBERG’s C90 Telepresence ( News - Alert) Engine and high-definition cameras, integrated with Barco’s user-friendly XDS Control Center software suite. It runs on many of Barco platforms, including LCD panels, projectors and single- or multi-channel projection systems.
