USTelematics Launches Breakthrough 4VDO(TM) Mobilecast Service to Deliver Live Television and Video Programming to Wireless Mobile Devices
CHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- USTelematics, Inc. (OTC:UTLM), creating proprietary technology and market-disruptive products at the forefront of the connected-car revolution, has announced the launch of a new mobilecast program called 4VDO(TM) that delivers live television and other video programming to USTelematics' Voyager Mobile IPTV and also to 3G and 4G wireless mobile devices of most kinds, including the new WiMax devices and services coming soon from Sprint, Google, Intel and their partners.
As new WiMax services proliferate, such as those to become widely available in the recently announced Sprint (NYSE: S), Clearwire (NasdaqGS: CLWR), Google (NasdaqGS: GOOG), and Intel (NasdaqGS: INTC) joint venture, USTelematics expects to become a key player in getting WiMax deployed en masse.
"The market for WiMax is quite limited when you think only about connecting the remaining bandwidth-constricted rural areas in the U.S. to broadband services," said Howard Leventhal, Chief Executive Officer of USTelematics. "However when you think about more than 200 million cars in North America, all of which stand to benefit in numerous ways from widely available high speed wireless internet, WiMax takes on a whole new dimension of value. We expect that distribution of Voyager will accelerate WiMax deployment far beyond what is presently possible - and we expect to profit by it through sales commission income from service providers. Voyager as it is presently designed is fully compatible with WiMax and our 4VDO service is designed to act as an automated sales agent for wireless connectivity services, including current EVDO broadband from Verizon, and WiMax services in the very near future".
USTelematics has commenced building its 4VDO high bandwidth server infrastructure to enable the live television mobilecast service. The initiative is consistent with the Company's mission to maintain a leadership role in technically facilitating and optimizing wireless mobile communication and infotainment in the telematics and telecommunications industries.
"We believe the key to connecting with our target market and staying connected is in playing an instrumental role in the delivery of the most important new types of media and communication services to mobile devices," said Mr. Leventhal. "We're leveraging our unique experience and technical expertise to bring live TV and other dynamic infotainment programming into mobile devices."
The Company's technology platform will be designed to be hardware agnostic, serving both USTelematics' brand products, as well as other popular mobile devices.
"Our 4VDO technologies will deliver exciting and dynamic programming into the mobile environment with the speed and quality available now at the cutting edge of wireless service," said Mr. Leventhal. "Families traveling with kids really only care about one thing: keeping those kids entertained and informed. They don't much care about the specifics of mobile electronic hardware, except to the extent hardware is reliable. The same is true of users of multimedia handheld devices."
USTelematics' 4VDO service is intended initially to support delivery of live TV into vehicles equipped with USTelematics' Voyager Mobile IPTV hardware product. Over the longer term, 4VDO is intended to become the premier online platform for transporting live audio and video programming into wireless mobile devices of most kinds, from PDAs and smartphones to the web-connected devices expected to start appearing in cars as originally equipped by auto makers over the next five years.
