Voice SMS Patent Granted to Kirusa

Imagine being able to use your voice to enhance the way SMS messaging has worked in the past on your mobile device. Well this is what Voice SMS technology from Kirusa will bring to subscribers.
The company's move to provide functionality beyond what text SMS capabilities offer is now backed by a patent, the company announced today.
Kirusa, provider of mobile value added services and that leverage multimodality, announced a patent for their Voice SMS technology, filed in 2003, has been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark office. Under patent number 7,184,786, Kirusa will be able to utilize the Voice SMS technology in their product offerings.
Their DirectListen technology will for example be utilized to provide the ability for users to listen and reply to voice messages directly and without need to login or navigate the system or device to do so.
According to a news release announcing the new patent grant, the technology will also be utilized for convergence with MMS and the ability to send pre-recorded messages as well as use with video messaging and for voicemail notification.
For mobile subscribers, Voice SMS will help make it easy and convenient to utilize features of mobile services offered on mobile devices.
