Home, Home On The LAN
BY MIKE VON WAHLDE
The local-area network is ripe for telephony, there is no doubt about
it. If you are looking to save money with both internal and external
communications, trying to add contact features and improve the touch
of the individuals sitting at the endpoints of your LAN, then you are
ready for LAN telephony solutions. And why not? The long-term investment
is sound, and the short term benefits are exacerbated by the simplicity
with which many of these solutions can be implemented.
Take a look at the options, services, and solutions listed in this
Selection Guide. The LAN telephony space is wide open, and growing
rapidly. Use this list as a starting point, and ask yourself How
can this benefit me? You will be surprised by the answers.

Cisco Emergency Responder
Cisco Systems, Inc.
170 West Tasman Dr.
San Jose, CA 95134
800-877-0519
www.cisco.com
Cisco Emergency Responder revolutionizes enterprise telephony support for
E9-1-1 in North America, E1-1-2 in Europe, and other emergency telephone
services across the globe, which more than ever are a significant concern
for telecom managers. Traditional PBX E9-1-1 implementations in North
America support automatic location identification of emergency
callers through daily manual database update processes, which limit the
frequency of location updates and increase the likelihood of update
errors. The Cisco Emergency Responder software application works with
Cisco CallManager to automatically track the location of Cisco IP phones
in enterprise campuses, route emergency calls to an appropriate public
safety answering point (PSAP), and provide the location of the caller to
the PSAP.
