Eaton Debuts Pulsar M Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Eaton Corporation (News - Alert) has stated that they have responded to rising user demands for a maximum energy efficient solution, introducing the Pulsar M uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs).

 

The Pulsar M is designed for higher energy efficiency and prevents excess heat when installed into a network rack. It will be sold under the MGE Office Protection Systems brand.

According to the company, the Pulsar M is very flexible and fits in shallow telecom racks/enclosures, measuring only 3.5" high for deep racks along with a 5.25" short depth unit. It comes in two models, 2200 and 3000 VA, and is asserted to provide continued power to Information Technology (IT), telecommunications, healthcare and industrial systems.

 

It is stated that the UPS comes with a multi-position, hot-swappable Power Distribution Unit (FlexPDU) that can free up space required for dense environments.

 

For applications requiring several hours of backup during a power outage, the units feature scalable runtimes and, with the 3000VA XL model, can accommodate up to 12 external battery banks. Eaton claims that the power system has an intelligent feature that cuts the power to less critical equipment to provide maximum backup time for critical devices connected to the UPS.

 

The company has stated that both Pulsar M models include USB and serial ports for remote communications and power management. The built-in Remote Power Off (RPO) and Remote ON/OFF (ROO) can be connected via standard contact ports. Network integration with HP OpenView, IBM (News - Alert) Netview, CA Unicenter and HP Insight Manager is handled with an optional network management card for SNMP/Web communication. There is also provision to monitor temperature and humidity.

 

The Pulsar M UPS comes with a free version of Enterprise Power Manager to manage up to five UPSs or other power devices (Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Power over Ethernet (PoE), midspans) regardless of brand.
