DataSynapse and Capgemini Partner to Enhance Offerings for Virtualization Market

An alliance has been announced between DataSynapse, the global provider of application virtualization software, and Capgemini, a provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services.

The Capgemini Outsourcing UK Division is adopting DataSynapse’s GridServer and FabricServer application virtualization technologies in order to develop offerings that are capable of meeting the changing needs of its customers and to drive innovation in the burgeoning virtualization market.

In order to consistently deliver innovative, cutting-edge services to their clients, outsourcing firms are often the first to adopt new technologies. Capgemini’s Outsourcing Services operation has offered virtualization services for some time, including server, storage and network solutions.

The company also recognized the benefits of incorporating application virtualization to complete a robust and extensive portfolio of virtualization services for their clients.

Through this alliance with DataSynapse, Capgemini Outsourcing customers will be able to reap extensive and rapid benefits across application and infrastructure environments. These benefits will include improved resiliency, application performance, reduced costs while moving to guarantee application SLAs and improved time-to-market.

IDC (News - Alert) released a report in July that found the market for virtualization services is expected to grow from $5.5 billion in 2006 to $11.7 billion in 2011. This growth will be the result of business turning to the technology to address a range of issues in the data center from power consumption to consolidation to cooling costs.

By embracing the latest virtualization technology, Capgemini Outsourcing Services aims to help organizations evolve their green technology efforts by enabling clients to dynamically allocate, manage and control resources, shutting down resources that aren’t needed and using less hardware to meet SLA performance targets, saving and reducing energy use and expenditure.

"The addition of DataSynapse's application virtualization technology allows us to extend and complete our virtualization offerings and round out our overall solution stack," said Karl Deacon, CTO, Capgemini Outsourcing UK, in a Tuesday statement.

"As one of the few companies leading in the area of application virtualization, coupled with a comfortable match of collaborative culture and approach, DataSynapse was the clear choice to help accelerate our business by offering new, innovative ways to support our clients’ business challenges."

A variety of Cap Gemini’s Outsourcing customers are in the process of evaluating the potential benefits in the UK and beyond. DataSynapse and Capgemini plan to extend the benefits of this latest virtualization solution to a range of joint customers, spanning the globe in the coming year.

"By incorporating DataSynapse's application virtualization technologies with Capgemini’s skills in delivering exceptional innovation and architectural thought leadership, Capgemini is delivering unprecedented value to its customers," said Alum Baker, senior vice president and managing director for EMEA at DataSynapse, in Tuesday’s statement.

"The alliance helps our joint customers better align IT resources with business objectives. GridServer and FabricServer help to satisfy user demand to better respond to business challenges, improving service quality, reducing operating expenses and creating new revenue streams."

The technological possibilities that are offered as a result of this alliance between DataSynapse and Capgemini are designed to not only advance the outsourcing efforts of customers, but to enable them to streamline these processes and control costs. In addition to these benefits, customers can also effectively create new revenue streams to secure their market positioning in the future.

This market is projected to more than double in the next four years, providing significant opportunities for the solutions provided by this alliance. It is up to these two companies to position this alliance properly to ensure all customers, current and potential, understand the benefits and the costs for not acting now.
