Convergence in Telecommunication
Only about 20 years ago, the telecommunication world was clearly defined. A few years later, the introduction of mobile services brought about a major revolution. Now, thanks to the generalization of the IP and IMS, the telecom world is moving toward true network access convergence, in which the underlying transport technology being used doesn't matter; customers can use the same handset for mobile GSM/WiMAX or fixed line WiFi at home. There is still room, though, for improving upon this trend and providing increased convergence through better BSS and OSS products.
