AT&T Expands VoIP Portfolio with Cost Effective Options for Wholesale CustomersBy Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor AT&T wholesale customers will now be able to cost effectively broaden their VoIP footprint and extend the reach of their calling areas. The company announced that a new access option for AT&T (News - Alert) Voice of IP Connect Service, or “AVOICS,” as well as a new user-based Web enhancement for AT&T Global Hubbing IP Access, or “GHIA,” and additional options for AT&T’s business VoIP services, will now be available to customers looking to improve their communications. When searching for a VoIP provider, quality, reliability and reach of the selected network are all must-haves on a customer’s provider wish list. Using AVOICS, AT&T’s flagship wholesale VoIP platform, caters to U.S. service providers that need an IP-based connection to AT&T’s network and termination of IP voice traffic over the Public Switched Telephone Network. And, with the hustle and bustle of everyday activities, AVOICS has a long distance communication that serves as an essential way to stay connected. Additionally, customers can connect to AVOICS using Transport Independent Access, or “TIA (News - Alert),” which is a cost effective way to access the service by way of public internet or on the AT&T network using the providers Managed Internet Service, or “MIS,” which will alleviate the pressures of costs in a time when finances are a focal point and often hindrance in technology changes. For customers who want flexibility with their interconnection options, Ed Stugla, assistant vice president, Wholesale Marketing and Portfolio Management, AT&T Business Solutions, said the TIA option is the way to go. TIA will supplement customers’ network configurations and maximize the finances already deployed within the services. So, for a customer wanting to utilize PNT for a high volume area supplementing with TIA for multiple IP addresses for other applications or other geographic areas is a smart way to go. “Our carrier-grade VoIP portfolio provides building blocks for our customers, and we will continue to introduce new features to help them increase productivity, reduce costs and differentiate themselves,” Stugla said. And, attempting to connect with more than just its U.S. users, the GHIA platform is a global system with high international call volumes. Since VoIP remains one of the largest growing areas for wholesalers in the telcom industry, AT&T’s new cost effective systems will allow wholesalers to enhance their portfolio while simultaneously improving the customers’ networks. AT&T recently teamed up with RadioShack to launch AT&T ConnectTech, which is a support service aimed to help the needs of customers at over 4,400 in store locations. This further solidifies the continual movements of AT&T to meet customer needs and enforce network systems maintenance to enhance customer experience no matter through wholesale VoIP, customer service or to strengthen remote PC support.
