New 'Faster' Undersea Cable to Connect US and Japan

Several financial backers are getting behind a new plan to construct a new Faster undersea cable that will join Japan and the U.S. West Coast with the promise of providing better broadband connectivity across the globe.

Why You Need to Know: The entire project is being constructed to address the need for more bandwidth across the ocean to the two continents of North America and Asia. The news report describes the demand for traffic as intense", and it says the cable will meet that demand with a 60 Tbps capacity that will travel in a group of six individual fiber cables in the Faster group.
