snom Debuts Next-Gen ONE IP PBX at ITEXPO East 2012By Beecher Tuttle, TMCnet Contributor snom made headlines last week by unveiling the latest version of its award-winning ONE IP PBX (News - Alert) at ITEXPO East 2012, a technology and communication conference which just wrapped up in Miami. Although the IP phone systems maker added a number of new enhancements to its hallmark IP PBX solution, the latest version can best be defined by one word: mobility. The new solution incorporates advanced mobility and security features that extend snom calling support to the mobile enterprise workforce. With the snom ONE IP PBX in place, companies can provision and integrate their employees' mobile phones with their internal telephony platform, making each handset a virtual extension. This means that mobile workers can access all the next-gen features provided by internal IP phone systems, including conferencing, call transfers, internal extension dialing and a host of other services – all from their cell phone. The system also provides extensive SIP client support for mobile platforms like Android (News - Alert) and iOS. "The snom ONE IP PBX has become a cornerstone of communications for many organizations, and as those organizations move into the world of integrated enterprise mobility, the snom ONE is prepared to help them easily and securely increase employee productivity and keep the costs of a mobile workforce down," snom COO Mike Storella (News - Alert) noted in a statement. Other additions to the snom ONE include improved management and administration support and enhanced remote phone security features. Users of the snom 7xx and snom 8xx series phones can take advantage of the system's WAN-based authentication for plug-and-play, which creates of a simpler and more secure environment for mobile workers. In addition, the system can now be updated from any Web interface, making it ideal for remote IT administrators as well. The snom ONE can even be purchased as a virtual appliance for VMware and Microsoft (News As snom showcased at ITEXPO, the ONE IP PBX is a full-featured SIP-based communications system capable of delivering all the next-gen features that today's mobile and on-premise workers demand, including agent groups, conference rooms, auto attendant and call recording, among others. Each of the three available snom ONE IP PBX units – the free 10-extension downloadable solution, the 20-extension snom ONE yellow or the unlimited-extension, multi-tenant snom ONE blue – offer a full feature set.
