snom Says Purchase Will Not Disrupt Business

By Frank Griffin, Contributing Writer

There are many different moving parts when one company acquires another, and if they are not handled properly, the effects on longtime customers can be detrimental. In order to reassure customers this will not be the case, snom Technology, a global provider of professional and enterprise VoIP telephones, announced its existing business will not be disrupted from the recent takeover by VTech, which includes its universally compatible IP PBX phones with leading PBX (News - Alert) platforms operating under the SIP standard.

VTech Holdings Limited, which also manufactures cordless phones, acquired 100 percent share capital of Snom Technology in October 2016, with the acquisition being completed a month later in November. The purchase has made snom an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of VTech, allowing the company to operate by continuing to provide the professional VoIP phones and hosted services.

snom issued a statement which in part said, "With the dust just settling on the recent takeover of snom Technology by VTech, snom customers and partners will in all likelihood have been trying to anticipate what changes to expect. The new owners have quickly taken steps to reassure customers that existing business will not be disrupted and familiar faces in the snom Technology sales, development and marketing teams are still present."

The company goes on to say as part of the VTech umbrella, snom will have access to resources which will allow it to expand the German design and software hosting to a wider global customer base and increase its market position. A sentiment shared by snom Technology’s CEO Gernot Sagl, who said, "Our customers will continue to enjoy the same level of high-quality product design, craftsmanship, security and interoperability and thanks to the support from VTech we can now also look forward to improved levels of service and support and an exciting expansion of our product portfolio."

The IP-PBX phone system from snom use signaling from an IP phone to the IP-PBX server using a LAN so calls can go through a traditional phone company or as VoIP using SIP trunking. This capability allows users to access the latest technology and calling features at price points that are more affordable than traditional PBX systems.

The company is also a Gold sponsor of ITEXPO  happening in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. next week and will be present at Booth #727.
