Vidtel Allows Users to Add Skype and GoogleTalk Video Conferencing to MCUs and BridgesBy Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor Video conferencing service providers, VARs and enterprises can now save money and maximize benefits of their video conferencing multipoint control units (MCUs) and bridges. They will be able to maximize their MCU and bridge investments by deploying Skype and GoogleTalk participants on desktop PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets. This will become possible with Vidtel Gateway (News - Alert), an industry-first solution that adds Skype and GoogleTalk support to video conferencing MCUs and bridges. Vidtel has released Vidtel Gateway that will help video conferencing service providers generate more revenue through increased usage of their MCUs and bridges. Vidtel (News - Alert) Gateway will offer video conferencing service providers to present Skype and Google Talk connectivity to existing customers using existing back-end systems. Web collaboration providers will get an opportunity to develop the value of their services and thus their target market with Vidtel Gateway. By using the new service, Web collaboration providers gets a fast, cost-effective way to open their largely proprietary systems to users with H.323, SIP, GoogleTalk and Skype (News - Alert) platforms. In a press release, Scott Wharton, Vidtel CEO, said, "Vidtel Gateway is the latest example of Vidtel's leadership in eliminating the interoperability, complexity and cost barriers that have prevented video conferencing from becoming as common as telephony and available to nearly everyone in business today. Instead of forcing enterprises and service providers to scrap their MCUs and bridges, Vidtel Gateway maximizes those investments and expands video conferencing both throughout their organization and to third parties such as customers and business partners." Vidtel's most recently announced channel partner, Solutionz, says that Vidtel Gateway allows the company to offer a convenient, cost-effective way to use Skype and GoogleTalk to customers. Vidtel Gateway deployment does not require any additional hardware or bridging investment. Vidtel recently announced a reseller agreement with Solutionz for Video Conferencing in the Cloud. The partnership eyes to eliminate the difficulties SMBs and large enterprises face while procuring and deploying video conferencing services. Edited by Brooke Neuman |
