Microsoft Intros Azure Preview Portal for Simpler Cloud Development

It might be said that Google, Amazon and Microsoft are in a race to dominate the cloud. Earlier this month, Google cut prices rather dramatically for its cloud services and Amazon, not to be outdone, quickly matched those prices. Microsoft followed, dropping prices for its Microsoft Azure platform about 35 percent (with about a 65 percent drop in prices for storage).
But cloud services are about more than just cost… at least that’s what the providers hope. This week, Microsoft is announcing what it’s calling a “first-of-its-kind cloud experience that brings together cross-platform technologies, services and tools, enabling developers and businesses to innovate at startup speed.” The new service is called Microsoft Azure Preview Portal, and it’s an effort to simplify cloud development and allow it to happen in one place. The new portal combines all the components of a cloud application into a single development and management experience.
Microsoft Azure is the company’s cloud computing platform that was designed to allow developers to build, deploy and manage applications and services through Microsoft’s many worldwide datacenters. The Preview Portal will bring together some desirable features and allow for faster deployment, according to the company. It will mesh with Microsoft's lightweight editor code-named "Monaco" and the company's Application Insights analytics feature of Visual Studio Online.
