Are IT and Telecom Channels Merging?
For quite some time, telecommunications and IT were two areas of technology that kept their businesses separate. As we progress towards a predominantly cloud environment, this phenomenon is becoming less true, as the two channels are moving closer together to take advantage of the growing cloud computing and mobile boom.
For value added resellers (VARs), this means selling IT services in addition to telco services in an effort to keep up with the competition. The adoption rates of IT and communication infrastructures are increasing at rather rapid rates, a move that suggests businesses in the playing field do not want to miss out on the market.
Earlier this year at the Fall 2012 Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Orlando, Fla, this was a much talked about topic.
