SGM to Start Hybrid Vehicle Production in 2008

(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) SHANGHAI, Nov 09, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --Richard Wagoner, chairman and CEO of General Motors (GM), disclosed recently that a new type of hybrid vehicle will be in production by 2008.

With low cost, overall optimization and low fuel consumption, the vehicle will be a masterpiece of either GM or Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). Meanwhile, GM and its Chinese partners will keep on working on various hybrid projects for meeting Chinese consumers' diverse demands.


GM also revealed that the vehicle is homemade rather than importing from US; its brand is still under consideration.
