Unified Communications and Social Networking from NextPlane

NextPlane’s customers are going to be happy this holiday season thanks to its latest announcement. The market leader in cloud-based federation services for UC has announced federation between UC platforms and social media services such as Twitter and Yammer, allowing users on UC platforms to participate in feeds and send messages straight from their UC clients.


Given the popularity of social networking sites, it’s natural that they should tie in to unified communications. NextPlane UC Exchange federates UC platforms and social media services, allowing end-users to let their UC clients use enterprise or public social network accounts. From there, they can search for colleagues, users, and groups, or post messages to group discussions and send private messages. All of this is without requiring any sort of plug-in, just easy authentication.


UC Exchange social media federation already has a wide range of support, including Microsoft Lync, OCS and LCS, Cisco, Jabber, Google Apps, and more.
