HP Partners with Vidyo

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Seeking to provide services for conference room and desktop endpoints that run on enterprise networks, HP has expanded its HP Halo portfolio with a partnership with Vidyo, a software-based videoconferencing solution provider. The solutions offered by HP will include an executive desktop solution running on an HP TouchSmart PC.

HP Palo product portfolio offers award-winning telepresence solutions and video conferencing solutions that enable real-time communication and business results. It allows companies to maximize communications with the most complete managed service offering available from a global, single source, claims HP.

While operating on infrastructure that delivers a lower total cost of ownership, the new HP-branded visual collaboration solutions will deliver high-quality video experiences. The solutions will be fully interoperable with traditional videoconferencing endpoints and current Halo Studios and are available through HP and channel partners. The offerings will use Vidyo's (News - Alert) complete VidyoConferencing line of software-based desktop and room system-based solutions running on HP servers.

"Companies need a complete portfolio of endpoint solutions, including video at the desktop, on mobile devices and in conference rooms, so they can collaborate more effectively," said Rob Scott, vice president and general manager, Halo Telepresence (News - Alert) Solutions, HP. "Together with Vidyo, we will provide customers with quality desktop and conference room video experiences that run over the internet or wireless networks, are highly reliable."

With the help of Vidyo's technology, companies can optimize the user's video experience to reduce latency with H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC). This eliminates the need for a costly multipoint control unit (MCU) and provides an adaptive codec that can ensure a more reliable video experience on best-effort networks.

Vodyo's teleconferencing solutions are getting customers at a fast pace. Recently, Ammex Corp., one of North America's industrial and medical products suppliers, selected VidyoConferencing to connect its company's international offices and departments that span multiple locations with HD multi-party video communications. The company selected Vidyo, because it works seamlessly over the Internet with amazing error resiliency and low latency, was the company's clear choice.
