By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Avaya reportedly announced that a “Lite” version of its enterprise mobility client application is now available through the Apple App Store.

Company sources said that Avaya (News - Alert) one-X Mobile Lite is Avaya’s second unified communications application for enterprises that business users can download to their iPhones.

The Avaya one-X Mobile is a fully-featured enterprise fixed mobile communications or FMC client which holds 43 percent of the market, said Frost & Sullivan sources.

Both Avaya one-X Mobile and the new “Lite” version help iPhone (News - Alert) to become an enterprise communications device. Mobile workers will be able to receive calls anywhere, anytime and also improve their productivity and reduce their business costs, company officials said.

Avaya one-X Mobile Lite is similar to the existing Avaya one-X Mobile for iPhone with a subset of features. It does not require additional servers or licenses. The Lite application features “One Number,” a feature which allows calls made to the desk phone to ring on the iPhone also. Calls made with the iPhone via this application will display the desk phone caller ID.

The “Single Voice Mail” feature allows unanswered business calls to be routed to the employee’s corporate messaging. Employees can direct incoming calls to their business voice mail for letter pickup with a push of a button. “Easy Mobile Switcher” allows employees to seamlessly switch active calls from the iPhone to their desktop device and vice versa when they arrive at office or when they have to leave without interrupting a conversation.

Users can dial using Avaya one-X Mobile Lite interface for business calls and direct dial from the iPhone for personal calls eliminating the need for multiple phones. The application can be turned off and the iPhone can be used to control personal time and business time, said company sources.

The “iPhone Contacts Integration” feature allows users to contact people directly from the iPhone address book using the Avaya one-X Mobile Lite client. The application can be downloaded by employees with the “Extension to Cellular” feature on Avaya’s Aura Communication Manager in the respective enterprise.

Avaya sources said the full-featured one-X Mobile also offers visual voicemail, user-defined call handling/routing, Web-based user management portal, corporate contact directory search and other features besides being available for more than 300 mobile phones and devices.
