Al-Othaim Opts for Cisco LAN, WAN, UC, Contact Center and Wireless TechnologyBy Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor Cisco reportedly has been chosen as the preferred technology partner by Al-Othaim Markets Co, a supermarket chain in Saudi Arabia.
Under the contract, Cisco (News - Alert) will look after the complete information communication technology ICT network infrastructure needs of the Middle Eastern nation.
ICT network plays an important role in Al-Othaim’s expansion and growth strategy across the Kingdom. Al-Othaim opted to deploy a complete Cisco solution that includes core network architecture, local and wide area network, unified communications and contact center solutions, wireless technology, network security solutions, and data center technology.
Officials at Al-Othaim say that, with Cisco’s solutions, they’ll achieve business efficiency targets.
According to Aadham Junaidallah, chief information officer of Al-Othaim Holding, the company is seeking a technology infrastructure that would support a high-speed network in a secure and managed environment to grow with its business needs.
“Cisco’s technology architecture is designed to help save on operating and capital expenses by reducing IT complexity within the store environment through data center consolidation,” Junaidallah said. “We see Cisco as a long-term strategic technology provider that we can rely on for our current and future technology needs.”
Providing access to various centrally managed services, a centralized data center will connect all of Al-Othaim’s outlets and retail shops together. The centrally managed services include inventory, order status, delivery schedules and other productivity enhancing services to employees and staff. Along with this, company employees will receive much-needed technical support as Cisco will deploy an IP contact center of 1,000 agents.
Cisco said that Al-Othaim is setting a trend for retailers in Saudi Arabia. The company says it is committed to help retailers meet their objectives and increase network productivity by developing solutions specifically designed to cater to their needs. Officials say the company is expecting to witness a shift in the Saudi retail industry in the near future.
Retailers now have the opportunity to reduce daily operational IT maintenance costs with Cisco’s network infrastructure and IP based solutions. They can configure the Cisco network to meet a wide range of retail needs. These include deploying wireless retail solution, supporting in-store video surveillance, and regulatory compliance.
