QuickPhones and VoIP Supply Partner to Offer WiFi PhonesBy Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor QuickPhones said that it has partnered with VoIP Supply to offer WiFi (News - Alert) phones that allow customers to make Internet calls from any access point.
This announcement is seen as a move to provide the North American market with a new option after Hitachi (News - Alert) discontinued its popular WiFi handset.
WiFi phone is a wireless telephone that places calls through a combination of voice over IP (VoIP) and WiFi. According to research reports, companies are increasingly adopting WiFi phones, driven by increased use of wireless LANs and IP PBX (News - Alert) technology.
Eliminating the need for local telephone service and wireless service provider charges, this partnership is expected to allow customers to make Internet calls from their offices, across town, from another state, and another country.
The WiFI phone extends “presence” and “availability,” said Lee Smith, founder and CEO of QuickPhones. The presence and availability shortens the cycle times on business and personal issues.
Smith believes that this shortened cycle time translates into increased revenue since using Wi-Fi phone users can make and receive calls remotely as if they were in the office. “This offers shorter cycle times on the most pressing issues,” he said.
Cory Andrews, founder and director for new market initiatives, considers WiFi phones to be “perfect” that can be used with appropriate access points in homes, offices, campuses, or public locations that provide WiFi Internet access.
Dallas based QuickPhones is a provider of voice communications services. Company custom designs a system for home phones, multi-use business phones, landlines, and WiFi.
Andrews sees this latest partnership with QuickPhones as an opportunity for customers that will enable them to make “simple, no-cost calls—regardless of their geographic location.”
Division of Sayers Technology Holdings, VoIP Supply offers VoIP solutions. The company also offers technical support, extended warranties, device configuration, installations and logistical services.
Earlier this year in August, VoIP Supply joined forces with Brandstream Networks and Bandwidth.com to offer a competitive full-solution package to small- to medium-sized (SMB) customers.
