Vertical Adds Features to Converged IP Telephony System

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Vertical Communications (News - Alert), provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP)-based phone systems and voice applications, announced significant enhancements to the SBX IP 320, a converged IP telephony system developed in association with LG-Nortel (News - Alert).

The new added features are aimed at assisting small businesses for increasing their productivity and efficiency. In addition to its existing features, the Release 2.0 offers a number of high-value new capabilities, most of which are available through a simple software upgrade.

“The SBX IP 320's new system Release 2.0 is the result of a significant cooperative development effort with Vertical channel partners and end-customers to identify and deliver new high-value features,” said Peter Bailey, senior vice president of product management for Vertical Communications, in a statement.

The Release 2.0 offers important new voice mail/auto attendant features, increased voice mail storage and a cordless digital telephone, while the existing SBX IP 320 is a small business telephony system that incorporates enterprise class features, integrated voice mail/auto attendant, Voice over IP (VoIP), CTI (News - Alert), conferencing, IP soft phone support and multi-site networking for single and multi-location small businesses.

“After learning the capabilities of other telephone systems on the market today, it was clear that Vertical's SBX IP 320 was the solution to fit our company's communications requirements,” said Rodney Bearden, president of Carpet Universe Mills, in a statement.

“With plans to expand our telecommunications network using IP, we're excited to know our investment in the SBX IP 320 will allow us to easily add our remote distribution centers located throughout the country,” Bearden said.

“There are many ways where we see the SBX IP 320 can help us to save telecom costs and work more efficiently without the need to add other peripherals. With my business at stake, I am confident with my decision to partner with Vertical to address today's requirements as well as tomorrow's unknown challenges,” Bearden added.

SBX IP 320 Release 2.0 enhancements are significant for Vertical Communications, one of the telephony vendors in North America, which provides next-generation IP-based business communications systems and applications with a current installed base of more than 200,000 customers.
