Dialogic Announces Support for Asterisk
By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor
Dialogic (News - Alert), a global provider of products and technologies for media and signal processing, announced today it will now offer active support for its line of Dialogic Diva Media Processing boards for the Asterisk (News - Alert) Environment.
“With the release of chan_dialogicdiva channel driver, we make available to the evolving Asterisk/Open Source market access to the advanced media processing and signaling features available on the Diva board,” said Jim Machi, senior vice president of marketing for Dialogic.
When used in an Asterisk system, chan_dialogicdiva can take advantage of the DSPs and rich media processing and signaling power of the Diva board to offload a number of functions that are usually handled by the CPU of the Asterisk Server, said Machi.
Machi says this can reduce the load on the CPU and benefit the performance, reliability and scalability of the Asterisk system. The functions that are handled by the Diva board include DTMF recognition and Generation, PULSE detection, Tone detection and Generation, Faxing, Echo Cancellation , and Multi-Party Conferencing.
In addition the Diva board can conference up to 120 active callers without causing load on the CPU. Some of the media features of Diva boards are echo cancellation (up to 256ms), DTMF detection and clamping and modem or fax support. Some of their signaling features are worldwide support of protocols and services, including most Q-SIG flavors and SS7 (ITU-T).
In addition, Dialogic’s world-class support and global distribution networks are well prepared for more Asterisk/Open Source solutions working their way into channel distribution networks.
In support of this release, Dialogic will be offering a special Dialogic Diva Media board for Asterisk Starter Kit Program. Available from select VADs in North and South America, Dialogic will pass along a 50 percent savings on certain Diva Media Boards to qualifying customers who have not purchased one of these Diva Media Boards in the past.
