Aculab Presents Innovation in the Cloud While Alan Pound Presents at ITEXPO East

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Copy Editor

Recently, TMC (News - Alert) released a Q&A session with Ian Colville (News - Alert), product manager at Aculab, who discussed with TMC’s CEO, Rich Tehrani, the three biggest technology trends throughout 2010, one of them being cloud computing. Taking part of the trend and carrying the best of 2010 into 2011, Aculab, a provider of enabling technology for the global communications market, plans to preview its cloud-based telephony development platform at the ITEXPO (News - Alert) Conference, scheduled for Feb. 2 – 4.

When asked about the impact that the continued growth of cloud computing will have on the communications industry in 2011, Colville indicated that it will have a significant, disruptive impact, especially on the traditional telephony market. He does believe new and more efficient operational models, such as Aculab Cloud, will enable business processes to improve and costs to decline. Aculab Cloud, provides application developers and service providers with true cloud-based media processing and communications infrastructure. And as predicted by Colville, this will enable a shorter and less expensive time-to-market for existing and emerging telephony-based services.

Aculab Cloud, a true cloud implementation presents not just a new deployment option, but enables innovation. A limiting factor inherent in several so-called cloud offerings, are processor capacity and storage space available, which are really nothing more than hosted solutions by a different name.  In many scenarios, a customer just has access to a set number of servers on the other side of the cloud, but does not have the dynamic access to additional capacity in a true cloud sense. With Aculab Cloud there are no such restrictions.

Attendees should visit the Aculab booth (No. 617) to learn how easy it is to switch to Aculab and how this switch can speed up application development time. Aculab’s Head of Strategic Marketing, Faye McClenahan (News - Alert) commented, “Aculab Cloud is a robust, scalable and cost-effective platform that helps providers overcome a number of barriers, such as escalating costs, long development cycles, and increasingly complicated end user requirements.”  For instance, end-users should consider coordinating and integrating business processes with the way that they communicate and serve their customers.  It presents a challenge, or barrier, but also an opportunity, for the innovative use of technology to combine the two.  With Aculab Cloud, combining business processes throughout an enterprise, can be more readily achieved.

Additionally, the flexibility afforded developers through programming language choices and on-demand resource access in the Aculab Cloud, facilitates quicker development and customization, and in turn enables cost-effective fine tuning of integrated applications built for the needs of the end-user.

During its preview of the Aculab Cloud application at its ITEXPO booth, Aculab will be looking for feedback from developers and other customers who are responsible for bringing new features and services to market.  By logging on to cloud.aculab.com, they’ll have an opportunity to work with the platform and get a first-hand look at developing solutions in the cloud.

It was recently released by TMC that Aculab's Managing Director, Alan Pound (News - Alert) has been added to the list of keynote presenters at ITEXPO East. Pound's session, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, at 10:00 AM, will discuss how Cloud Communications is influencing the future of Telephony – quite appropriate after this news of a new cloud offering.

ITEXPO is an incredibly valuable vehicle for bringing together customers from the development, service providers, and enterprise spaces. In addition, the collocated events, like The Cloud Summit, give Aculab an opportunity to speak directly with customers who are expressly interested in a specific technology, such as the Aculab Cloud.

Aculab is a Diamond sponsor of ITEXPO East 2011. To be held Feb. 2-4 in Miami, ITEXPO is the world’s premier IP communications event. Visit Aculab in booth No. 617. Don’t wait. Register now.
