Allied Fiber's Dark Fiber Community Allows FiberLight to Introduce Metro Ethernet to a New Industry Community

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Copy Editor

Following last week’s news of FiberLight LLC’s newest high capacity optic network in Charlottesville, Va., FiberLight (News - Alert) revealed today, Feb. 1,  that they have joined Allied Fiber’s Dark Fiber Community. Allied Fiber (News - Alert) has implemented a new, multi-duct design for intermediate access to the long-haul fiber duct through a parallel short-haul fiber duct all along the route, enabling all points between the major cities, including data centers, wireless towers and rural networks, to gain access to the dark fiber.

FiberLight, LLC, a premier provider of mission-critical, high performance fiber optic networking services, including Ethernet, Wavelengths and IP, SONET, and Dark Fiber optical transport network solutions, delivers broadband connectivity solutions over a diverse optical ring typology network . For instance, by leveraging an enhanced fiber network, the new high-count underground network from Culpeper to Charlottesville will deliver a low latency direct connection to Culpeper, Va., and Washington, D.C. that currently deploys FiberLight’s 500+ mile multi-ringed, optical network.

FiberLight’s value to the market has always been our ability to deliver optical transport services that are diverse and highly reliable, providing clients a more stable and secure network platform,” stated Michael P. Miller, CEO and founder of FiberLight, in a statement. FiberLight’s diverse transport services include such solutions as a dedicated IP platform for enterprise and government customers in the 21 U.S. markets, meeting the growing demand for high performance Internet service.

“We are proud to work with FiberLight to offer a new kind of industry community," stated Hunter Newby (News - Alert), CEO of Allied Fiber. "The Dark Fiber Community is the type of neutral environment which will stimulate continued open discussion and drive industry growth.”
