GENBAND Reaches Single Business Platform Implementing Oracle E-Business Suite

By Janice McDuffee, TMC Copy Editor

IP infrastructure and applications solutions developer, GENBAND, announced its successful unification of its finance, order management and supply chains into a single platform running the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.

After acquiring the Nortel Carrier Voice and Applications Services (CVAS) division in May of last year, the company selected Oracle (News - Alert) to integrate the businesses by supporting its full back office suite.

GENBAND’s Chief Information Officer, Brad Bush, said Oracle has helped the company to strengthen its future business platform.

“We required an enhanced platform that would support our significantly increased scale and a pathway for rapid integration of the much larger, complex Nortel (News - Alert) business. The Oracle E-Business 12.1 gave us the flexible business solution we needed while seamlessly transitioning and unifying hundreds of business process applications and systems,” said Bush in a company press release.

The company has also implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition and Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher for enterprise reporting, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle Hyperion Planning for enterprise consolidations and budget planning respectively, as well as oracle Global Trade Management to streamline trade compliant processes—on top of the modules already in use for existing business in core order management, finance, purchasing and discrete manufacturing.

Ognjen Pavlovic, vice president, Oracle Product Strategy said, “GENBAND (News - Alert) is an early adopter of Oracle Global Trade Management, which will help them to complete all compliance documentation to support shipping to its large customer base in over 80 countries. Hyperion Financial Management will help allow GENBAND to quickly consolidate future acquisitions and report on a single set of operating books.”

The company noted a combined team of implementation specialists from Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Platinum level partner Nascent Systems and OPN Gold level partner IC are responsible for the Oracle implementation.

“GENBAND’s decision to build upon the Oracle platform as well as its continued commitment to best practices made such a rapid implementation plan possible,” said Stuart Massey, partner, Nascent Systems.

GENBAND President and CEO Charlie Vogt (News - Alert) will be the keynote speaker at ITEXPO East, being held Feb. 2 to 4, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Vogt's session is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m.
