4GWE: Haraldsvik and Laudon Join Bytemobile's Senior Management Team

Bytemobile, a leading Smart Capacity solutions provider for mobile network operators, invited Ronny Haraldsvik and Michael Laudon to join its senior management team as vice president of Global Marketing and vice president of Engineering, respectively. The move was made in anticipation of Bytemobile’s (News - Alert) continued growth, as well as to reaffirm its commitment to the ever-growing capacity challenge facing carriers on a global scale.

Bytemobile data report shows that video represents more than 40 percent of the total volume in wireless networks worldwide, and the mobile data traffic is expected to hike significantly in 2011. The developments for 2011 includes, video-based content to account for over 60 percent of network traffic, up from approximately 40 percent in 2010; personal video communications are expected to dominate the wireless network capacity, with 10 percent of subscribers consuming 90 percent of total network traffic; next-generation smartphones will lead to the consumption of bandwidth-intensive content and subscribers will continue to consume available network capacity even as operators roll out LTE (News - Alert); smart capacity solutions can be deployed at data centers, as well as at the packet core of their networks to better utilize capacity for rising traffic demand.

The solution combines caching, content filtering; policy enforcement, access control, and capacity control points to create smarter networks for managing existing capacity, and enable operators to protect their existing investments, control operating expenses and defer new capital expenditures.

Ronny Haraldsvik has more than 22 years of industry experience, as well as 10 years in wireless industry. Previously, he had held the positions of vice president of Marketing at SpiderCloud Wireless, vice president of Mobile Broadband at Qualcomm, vice president roles at Flarion Technologies and Nortel (News - Alert) Networks, as well as director of field marketing at Bay Networks. Michael Laudon was the co-founder and director of Systems Engineering at Sundance Technology. Prior to joining Bytemobile he had held the posts of vice president of Engineering Quality and Product Operations at Silver Spring Networks, and vice president of Engineering at Force10 Networks (News - Alert).
