Tips to Drive Greater HD Voice Adoption: ITEXPO KeynoteBy Amy Tierney, TMCnet Web Editor High-definition voice is one emerging technology that is sure to have a powerful impact on the telecom industry this year. And already providers are seeing a growing interest from consumers for the service.
Why? Because when you talk in HD, it’s makes conversations easier to understand.
Yet, service providers needs some helpful advice to help promote widespread adoption of the technology, David Erickson (News - Alert), founder and CEO of Freeconferencing.com, a company that specializes in one to many communications, said during a keynote address Wednesday at ITEXPO East 2010.
For one thing, the quality and security of HD voice technology matter most to users. And as such, consumers are more than willing to pay for those services, Erickson said. But for greater adoption to occur, “interoperability will have to happen,” he said.
“Consumers want to be completely connected,” Erickson said. “We are seeing HD networks come up, but they are not connected [to one another]. There are not a whole lot of other endpoints to talk to.”
Erickson, who spoke earlier with TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), offered the follow tips concerning HD Voice:
* Keep an open mind when it comes to HD connectivity.
* Put the consumer first.
* Make sure your 2010 VoIP purchases include HD.
