IP Multimedia Phone Report: Grandstream to Exhibit at ITEXPO

By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor

Where do you go if you’re looking for a slick new IP phone with free peer-to-peer video calling and multimedia functionality?

If you’re in Miami next week, the short answer is Booth #507 at the ITEXPO (News - Alert) East, to be held Jan. 20-22. Grandstream, a manufacturer of state-of-the-art IP phones, including the new GXV3140 IP multimedia phone, will showcase its latest telecommunications gadgets.

“We see the product eventually interoperating with Web 2.0 business applications, such as Skype (News - Alert),” Khris Kendrick, Grandstream’s senior director of business development, recently told TMCnet.

According to Grandstream, the GXV3140 combines best-in-class technology to allow for free video and voice calling worldwide with just one simple step: plug-in. The GXV3140 allows users keep in touch with friends and family around the world -- as well as information that impacts daily life -- without interruption, any time of day. With the GXV3140, users can make free voice and video calls upon installation, thus enhancing productivity and reducing travel costs immediately.

The phone features an integrated Web browser, plus RSS feeds of weather/news/stocks and Internet radio. Another feature is IM with Yahoo, MSN and Google (News - Alert) messenger services, plus access to Yahoo Flickr Web photo albums, an alarm clock, calendar, games and music ring tones. A full-duplex speakerphone and popular voice codec support ensure best-in-class telephony features.

Another launch Grandstream is proud of is its ‘IP Video Surveillance’ (News - Alert) product line.

“Here we leveraged the same competency in video communication to create a new line of SIP surveillance cameras that offer bi-directional audio and video streaming onto SIP endpoints, like our video phones,” Kendrick told TMCnet.

Kendrick told TMCnet that Grandstream will continue to capitalize on its strengths -- manufacturing open, SIP-based products that will interoperate with new entrants in the communications market to sustain and grow its market share. In 2010, Grandstream will use its feature/price competitiveness, product flexibility, ease of deployment and a tiered go-to-market strategy focused on VAD, VAR channel and service provider penetration to stay ahead.

“We will continue to innovate in the areas of video surveillance and multimedia phones,” Kendrick said.

To see the latest IP multimedia phones on the market, head to ITEXPO East 2010. To be held Jan. 20 to 22 in Miami, ITEXPO is the world’s premier IP communications event. Visit Grandstream in booth #507. Don’t wait. Register now.
