ITEXPO West 2009: Don't Miss Towerstream Keynote

The ITEXPO West 2009 is happening once again, and everyone at TMC (News - Alert) cannot be more excited. Especially since Jeff Thompson, CEO and co-founded of Towerstream, will be giving his keynote speech Tuesday, September 1 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

 

Jeff Thompson (News - Alert) co-founded Towerstream in December 1999 with Philip Urso and has served as a director since and chief operating officer from its inception until November 2005 when he became president and CEO.

 

In 1995, Jeff co-founded and was vice president of operations of EdgeNet Inc., a privately held Internet service provider (which was sold to Citadel Broadcasting Corporation in 1997 and became eFortress) through 1999. He holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.

 

In a recent interview Thompson had with TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), with the iPhone and iPod touch and similar devices, the industry already is seeing some merging with the introduction of applications “for everything from gaming to GPS,” he said.

 

“Why have several devices – an iPod, smartphone, GSP system, portable gaming system, camera, video camera, Kindle, and so on – when you can consolidate everything into one?” said Thompson.

 

“Another good example is a special iPhone (News - Alert) application for golf that a lot of my friends use and love,” Thompson told Tehrani. “It costs $30, rather than $300 to purchase a device that does the same thing – and only serves that one purpose. One-application items like this will more and more be dissolved into these smartphones that can be pretty much everything to everyone. And as network speeds increase and device technologies and battery life advance further, I think this consolidation will only increase.”
