Quintum Unveils VoIP Switches and Gateways Compatible with Microsoft Response PointBy Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributing Editor Quintum (News - Alert) Technologies, a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies (NET), has deployed Microsoft's Response Point phone system software to develop a VoIP T1/E1/PRI gateway and an FXS gateway for digital phone systems.
The Quintum Response Point gateways lets an enterprise set up its system in a rapid manner, and the Response Point application configures the gateway when the analog gateway is installed. When installing a T1 or E1 Gateway, the Response Point customized configuration wizard guides the user through the process for simple set up.
Quintum’s new products are compatible with all IP telephone systems that are based on Response Point. The digital gateway will support a T1, E1 or PRI connection, and the analog gateway will support up to four FXS ports.
Utilizing Microsoft's Response Point, even small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are able to obtain IP PBX (News - Alert) telephony advantages usually enjoyed only by larger enterprises.
In addition to SIP trunking, click-to-call functionality for contacts using the Assistant software, call detail records, and the ability to select music for parked calls and hold time, Response Point also provides voice recognition for spoken commands. This feature can help employee to call people within the company without dialing, verbally access contacts from Outlook and voicemail, as well as transfer calls. Also, an outside caller can simply state with whom they would like to speak.
Xuedong Huang, general manager of Microsoft Response Point, said Quintum's Response Point gateways help SMBs easily deploy the Response Point system via a T1, E1 or PRI connection, to achieve PBX functionality in a simple and affordable manner.
