By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
INX ( News - Alert) has a won a contract to deploy an IP telephony solution for Oregon Medical Group in Eugene, OR. The project is valued at approximately $600,000 in product and services revenue for INX.
The health care provider in the Willamette Valley was searching for a communications solution that would deliver enhanced communications by replacing disparate phone systems to improve patient care and centralize management. OMG chose INX to design and deploy a Cisco ( News - Alert) unified communications solution.
Leveraging the strengths of a converged voice and data architecture, the solution enables all communications across the same network, providing new services while reducing capital expenditures as well as management and service-plan costs. The solution reportedly includes Cisco Unified Communications ( News - Alert) Manager 5.1, Unified Contact Center Express 4.5, and Unity Unified Messaging 4.2.
INX IP telephony solution replaces OMG’s aging phone system across its 15 offices within the Eugene metropolitan area as well as provides upgrades to the switching/routing infrastructure for each clinic. The company began the initial site roll out in July 2007 and plans phased implementation, migrating one clinic at a time through the 15 locations for a total of approximately 600 users.
“Working with INX to plan and implement this Cisco solution has been the most critical part of delivering on the vision we had when we started this project, namely, improving the overall patient experience, building the right framework for advanced unified communications, and ensuring business continuity, compliance and ease of management,” said Jym Jann, IS Manager - Network & Technical Services for Oregon Medical Group in a statement.
Jann added that INX is delivering on the success guarantees they advertised. Mark Wilhelm, vice president of Sales for INX said that both companies are synchronizing their efforts to help OMG leverage new technology to improve the overall patient experience. According to Wilhelm, this solution addresses complex communication challenges the healthcare industry has been facing for years. INX's approach to design and deployment allows OMG to harness the power of unified communications in ways that are meaningful and strategic to healthcare providers.
