By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Simicomm ( News - Alert) has announced the addition of snom IP phones to its list of EasySpeak-compatible phones that require no programming. Users can simply plug them in out of the box and they work. EasySpeak is the newly released 15 minute phone system has the ability to remove the complexity of VoIP installation and management for small businesses.
Michael Knieling, CFO and executive VP of marketing and sales for snom said that their company has gained significant momentum recently in its mission to provide businesses worldwide with the simplest IP telephony system implementations possible.
“In conjunction with Simicomm, snom is taking the meaning of simple one step further and leading industry efforts in auto-provisioning,” said Knieling in a statement.
Simicomm points out that provisioning phones has its challenges without EasySpeak PBX . In addition to creating a channel for the phone, numerous files such as extensions and voicemail have to be configured. Several steps are required to set up the phone, involving the IP address, web interface, server name and auto settings and typically it takes about 1/2 hour per phone to set up manually. Thanks to the EasySpeak PBX ( News - Alert) exclusive auto-provisioning feature, phones can be provisioned, with full functionality, right out of the box.
Ron Miller VP sales at Simicomm believes the addition of an IP phone leader like snom will increase handset options for resellers and their customers. Simicomm expects the move to increase their visibility, especially throughout Europe where Berlin-based snom is a dominant presence.
snom has joined Polycom ( News - Alert) and Linksys as phones auto-provisioned by EasySpeak. A line card from Digium or Sangoma is required to use analog phones. Users can change the extensions and manage other features by logging into the novice-tested, web-based toolbox.
