ITEXPO Session Preview: Providing the VoIP SMBs Really Need

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Customers considering a Voice over IP (VoIP) service, especially small business owners, often are confused which service they should choose. This, AMI-Partners said in a recent report, is because companies selling VoIP services are not properly marketing their offerings nor are they educating customers about what VoIP can and cannot do.

In its report, AMI-Partners went even further, saying that service providers are delivering the type of VoIP services they think small businesses want, rather than addressing actual needs of small businesses.

So, how can service providers better serve the SMB market? This is the topic of a session at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2007, co-presented by Jason Talley, CEO at Nuvio (News - Alert). Talley and the other presenters of the session (representatives from Telephony2, Bandwidth.com, Sangoma and Business Solutions magazine) will explain why delivering next-generation, bleeding-edge applications is not necessarily the road to success.

During the session (“Selecting SMB VoIP: Cut Through the Confusion”), scheduled for September 12, 1007, from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m., attendees will learn why there is no such thing as an “average” small or medium-sized business. The presenters will discuss, though, how service providers can provide basic functional elements that all businesses need, regardless of their uniqueness.
