By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor
In a bid to provide the SMB market with an advanced, affordable IP handset solution, Grandstream Networks ( News - Alert) developed the GXP1200, an affordable 2-line SIP Phone as the latest addition to its GXP Enterprise SIP Phone series.
The new offering provides SMBs with powerful features at an affordable price. Retailing at less than $100, the new model is slightly smaller in size than the GXP2020 model, but still offers the same performance and will be generally available through Grandstream’s distribution channels worldwide in October 2007.
“The GXP1200’s excellent voice quality, rich feature set and competitive price creates a new price-performance benchmark record for SIP phones, “ said David Li, CEO of Grandstream in a statement to the press.
With the GXP1200, SMBs are offered "2 lines, 3 dynamic XML capable softy keys, dual network ports with integrated PoE, a backlight graphic LCD display and a sleek design," the company notes.
Voice clarity, advanced call features and compatibility with a number of leading SIP platforms are also included in the GXP1200. The GXP1200 also offers support for a number of advanced telephony features including call transfer, forward, park/retrieve, hold, mute, 3-way conference, visual message waiting indicator, multi-language support and security protection.
"Because the GXP1200 shares the same SIP stack and firmware as the GXP2000 and GXP2020, it is compatible with Avaya Communication Manager 3.1 and Avaya SIP Enablement Services 3.1, BroadSoft’s ( News - Alert) BroadWorks, 3Com and asterisk-based platforms. The SIP stack for GXP series SIP phones is also verified by tekVizion (third party testing lab for Cisco Unified Call Manager 5.0)," a news release noted.
“The new GXP1200 offers the small business or cubicle workers a performance phone at an extremely attractive price and reinforces our commitment to developing innovative and affordable IP voice products for the small-medium enterprises. We believe the GXP1200 will become one of the most popular IP phones for the SMB market,” also commented Li.
GrandStream also announced today together with IPsmarx ( News - Alert) Technology Inc. that clients who own the IPsmarx SoftSwitch solution can now offer Video over IP to their end-users using the GrandStream GXV3000 IP video phone.
The company also announced that it's SIP Voice and Video portfolio, including the GXP Multi-line SIP Enterprise Phone Series, the BudgeTone 200 and the Handytone Analog Telephone Adaptor Series, is now fully interoperable with Sylantro Systems’ ( News - Alert) Sylantro Synergy platform.
