IT EXPO Preview: Service Provider Security Concerns
By Michelle Pasquerello, Associate Editor
From January 24-27, 2006, TMC will host the 13th INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO, the industry’s #1 VoIP conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
On Friday, January 27, 2006, Mark Neider of Netrake along with a panel of experts will be presenting a session titled “Service Provider Security Concerns” as part of the Security Summit track at INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO East.
One of the biggest hurdles when it comes to the successful deployment of VoIP at any level is security. While VoIP security is a technical issue, the consequences of taking a reactive approach to VoIP security or of dealing with an attack are truly business problems that can’t be ignored. This session will include: an overview of the types of threats and attacks faced by VoIP such as theft of service, eavesdropping, and service availability attacks, with a special focus on new and emerging threats, as well as a look at why traditional data security technologies don’t provide the answer and the unique requirements of VoIP security.
