SPIRIT Voice Software Goes into Skype-Based IP-phone

The new partnership calls for Trinity to license SPIRIT’s low-MIPS higher-quality voice processing products running on ARM9 and MIPS processors into its VeriCall suite of embedded software frameworks. Trinity VeriCall software is using SPIRIT vocoders since 2005.
The Skype ( News - Alert)-protocol-based VoIP desktop phone uses the VeriCall framework from Trinity Convergence and SPIRIT vocoders running on the Intel ( News - Alert) PXA270 processor. Trinity and SPIRIT have also recently signed a revenue-sharing sublicensing agreement, allowing Trinity to re-sell SPIRIT vocoders.
The desktop P2P IP-phone from Universal Scientific offers Skypers the VoIP experience without connecting to a PC. The phone supports Skype to Skype calling, SkypeOut, SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail.
“SPIRIT's voice processing and voice enhancement solutions are renowned by the global industry as having the highest voice quality along with the lowest power consumption,” stated Slava Borilin, VP Product Marketing of SPIRIT DSP. “As such, they are ideally suited for VoIP over WiFi ( News - Alert) and 3G in mobile devices that support either Skype-protocol or SIP industry standard for call establishment. SPIRIT has recently released a new upgraded and advanced version of the voice product that had been earlier integrated by Trinity into its VeriCall framework.”
Earlier this month RADVISION announced that it will integrate SPIRIT DSP's audio software into its videoconferencing products. “We found SPIRIT's software to provide a high performance and high quality solution that integrated well into our product. SPIRIT provided excellent support and we are pleased with our decision to use their XDAIS compliant technology," said Shimon Nurick, R&D manager of the NBU (Network Business Unit) at RADVISION, in a statement.
SPIRIT’s technology is available for applications on PCs, mobile phones, 3G video enabled phones, VoIP CPEs (voice and video over IP customer premises equipment) and VoIP infrastructure equipment. The company's embedded voice and communication software products are deployed by HP, Paltalk, Philips, HTC, UTStarcom, Oracle ( News - Alert), Macromedia, Ericsson ( News - Alert), LG among 200+ other OEM/ODM, software and hardware vendors worldwide.
