Exalt Demonstrates LTE-Ready Microwave Backhaul Network

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Exalt (News - Alert) Communications will demonstrate a live, hybrid TDM/IP end-to-end microwave backhaul network for mobile operator transport infrastructures from edge access cell sites to the aggregation and core networks.

This demonstration will be made at CTIA (News - Alert) this week and the visitors will be able to witness the LTE-ready network that features Exalt’s extensive carrier-class product portfolio across multiple physical configurations, frequency bands, microwave transmission technologies and native TDM/IP traffic mix, for mobile backhaul applications with any combination of 2G, 3G and LTE (News - Alert).

For this event, Exalt’s demonstration network consists of three edge access links aggregated through a hub aggregation node and then backhauled to a single high capacity TDM/IP core aggregation node.

Amir Zoufonoun, president and CEO of Exalt Communications, said that mobile operators are facing a range of issues while struggling to deal with the burgeoning subscriber demand for data against flat subscriber revenue.

The operators can be successful if they are able to build a network at a lower cost per bit that can support high bandwidth from edge to core, with pay-as-you-grow functionality and easier migration from TDM to IP.

“Our live demo is a microcosm of the very networks mobile operators are trying to implement, and we welcome the opportunity to share our approach in our booth at CTIA,' Zoufonoun said.

Exalt Communications provides next-generation microwave backhaul systems to service providers, government organizations and enterprises worldwide. The company has also announced ExtendAir zero-footprint Fast Ethernet and native TDM licensed microwave backhaul systems. The company has optimized these solutions for next generation LTE backhaul networks and metro area applications including WiMAX (News - Alert), Wi-Fi and IP backhaul.
