Entone's Hydra and Amulet Now Interoperable with Conklin-Intracom's fs|cdn IP TV Solution

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Entone’s Hydra IP video gateway and Amulet IP TV receiver has been integrated with Conklin-Intracom’s (News - Alert) fs|cdn fully integrated IPTV solution. The integrated product enables delivery of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, SD and HD video with integrated DVR and VOD capabilities.

Entone (News - Alert), Inc. and Conklin-Intracom have stated that their new integrated product offering has been successfully deployed in multiple U.S. customer environments and one such environment is Delhi Telephone in Delhi, NY.

Entone deals in broadband video and home connectivity solutions and Conklin-Intracom addresses the North American Service Provider customer base with a full range of IP TV integration, implementation, and customized solutions.

According to Entone, the Hydra HD IP Video Gateway (News - Alert) is part of its Connected Home Solution that was developed to enable the Telco industry to facilitate a rapid ROI on new media business models. The solution can make use of existing coax cabling to let customers share electronics across multiple televisions thus removing the need for multiple set-top boxes and reinstalling the home wiring.

Amulet IPTV (News - Alert) receiver is a multi-functional IPTV receiver with MPEG-4 HD capabilities that integrates easily with popular home-networking and broadband services.

Conklin-Intracom has stated that fs|cdn is a complete content delivery solution that leverages interactive next-generation communications networks to enable IPTV services and on-screen applications.

Delhi Telephone has asserted that they are transitioning from their existing VDSL video product to FTTH and the Entone Hydra is a 1 for 1 replacement for the home gateway / set top box they have installed now. Hydra’s ability to leverage on existing wiring can save hours of installation time.

Entone claims that its mission is to enable service operators to deliver live TV and value-added services, such as whole-home DVR, VOD, and online media services, throughout a home using existing in-home wiring. The integrated offering from them and Conklin-Intracom brings down the operating and capital costs for operators looking to rapidly deploy IPTV and next-generation TV services.

Ian Meletios, CEO of Conklin-Intracom stated that the advantages for customers needing an upgrade path to IPTV from DSL based home video gateways were too significant to be ignored and they are confident that their cooperation with Entone will be a success as consumers migrate from their existing platforms to new advanced services offered by this combination.

Entone’s Hydra HD IP video gateway and Amulet HD IPTV receiver was chosen by Panhandle Telephone Cooperative (PTCI) for their high-definition (HD) IPTV service rollout and Netstream selected Entone for HD IPTV service deployments in Switzerland.
